About
The American Peptide Society (APS) is the premier scientific organization dedicated to peptide research in the United States and beyond. Founded in 1990, the society has grown to approximately 2,100 members spanning academia, pharmaceutical industry, biotech, and government agencies in more than 56 countries.
APS publishes Peptide Science, a peer-reviewed journal through Wiley, and organizes the biennial American Peptide Symposium — a flagship event that brings together leading researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals to share the latest advances in peptide science.
The society administers multiple prestigious awards recognizing outstanding contributions to peptide chemistry and biology, including the Merrifield Award and the du Vigneaud Award, named after Nobel Prize-winning pioneers of peptide science. Emerging research priorities include AI-guided peptide design, drug delivery optimization, and the development of therapeutic peptides for oncology, metabolic disease, and neurodegenerative conditions.
